Autograph letter signed, dated : Vienna, 8 November 1852, probably to the director of the Hof~burg~thea~ter, 1852 Nov. 8.

Expressing regret that the recipient has removed Mosenthal's little piece (Dorflehrer) from the repertory, that it was dropped not on esthetic but in theatrical grounds, saying that he believed that the play was a popular success, mentioning performances of his Deborah, [Ein deutsches] Dichterleben, Benedix, etc.

Roderich Benedix was a German dramatist. He worked with Johann Strauss adapting one of his plays to music, probably Fledermaus. Another play, The Married bachelor, was translated into English in 1876.
